Update your sensor's firmware & calibration
The videos and descriptions below will highlight and explain exactly how to update the firmware on your sensor and how to calibrate your sensor post firmware update.
You can also download a pdf version of the steps below by clicking here.
Important: If you are using an athlete level login, you must be running Capture app version 2.19.2 or higher in order to complete the below steps.
Update Sensor Firmware
Important: Your sensor should be running firmware version 5.12
Make sure your Capture app is running at least 2.19.0 or higher. You can find how to update your Capture app here.
Plug the sensor you wish to update into the charger. The LED on the sensor should turn green confirming that there is power going to the sensor.
Tip; If the sensor LED is a slow flashing blue this means that it is already connected to your device. Disconnect the sensor using the toggle in the Capture app and the LED should now turn green to confirm it is receiving power.
Connect the sensor to your phone or tablet via the Capture app.
Navigate to the Sensor Settings by clicking on the name of your sensor at the top of the Settings page.
If a sensor firmware update is available, you will see a small Update button beside the current firmware revision. Press this button to begin the firmware update.
Important; The sensor must remain plugged in for the entirety of the firmware update, until the sensor turns itself back on. Unplugging the sensor before the sensor has reconnected can cause the sensor to update incorrectly.
Once the update is complete, the sensor will turn off & disconnect from the app. As mentioned above it is essential that you leave it plugged in until the sensor turns itself back on.
If the device you are using is iOS, you will have to use the toggle in the app settings to re-connect the sensor after it turns back on.
If the device you are using is Android, the sensor will automatically reconnect.
If you do not leave your sensor plugged in for the update, it may cause the sensor to go into a different state. To correct this press and hold the button for 10s. You may need to repeat this step a couple of times. If you are still having difficulty please contact us; [email protected]
Sensor Calibration
If your sensor needs to be calibrated, you will see the banner below in the Capture app once the sensor is connected.
By clicking on the 'Calibrate Now' link it will bring you straight to the calibration screen where you can follow the steps outlined below.
Important: While you can continue to use your sensor without following the calibration steps outlined below, the most up to date algorithms are designed to work with a calibrated sensor.
Identify a flat, level and stable surface to perform the calibration on.
Important; If a sensor is calibrated on a surface which is not level, it will still appear to work as normal but may miss reps and any metrics collected will be invalid.
You must ensure that the sensor remains as still as possible during the calibration steps. If the surface is not level or if it or the sensor moves* during the process, the calibration will be void.
*Movement of the surface or sensor could be caused by any excess vibrations such as a phone vibrating on the same surface or accidentally moving the table by hitting it with your arm/leg.
Once your sensor is reconnected to the app, after the firmware update, you can unplug your sensor from the charger.
You can then tap on 'Calibrate Sensor' and follow the steps shown in app.
There are a total of 7 steps (sensor positions) to follow before your sensor is properly calibrated.
Important; Please ensure that you place your sensor in the exact same position and orientation as shown in each picture in the app. The app should prompt you to change position and retry if the orientation of the sensor is incorrect.
Once you reach the 'Calibration Complete' screen in app your sensor is calibrated and ready to be used.

Checking your Sensors Calibration
Once you have calibrated your sensor, there will be 1 of 4 states shown under 'Calibration Status' from the Sensor Settings. This will tell you how well the sensor has been calibrated. Each section below will take you through that each state means along with a corresponding image.
State 1 - Updated & Calibrated ✅
This is the ideal state for your sensor. It means the firmware has been successfully updated to 5.12 and is within the recommended calibration parameters.
Note: If you have calibrated your sensor prior to February 2024, the 'Last Calibrated Date' will show the date of when you recently updated the app.
State 2 - Updated & Poorly Calibrated ⚠️
This means the firmware has been successfully updated to 5.12, but the calibration of the sensor is not within ideal limits.
As stated in the app we recommend you try to recalibrate the sensor. If you are still presented with this state after recalibrating, please get in touch with us - [email protected] and a member of our team will get in touch around best next steps.
Note: If you have calibrated your sensor prior to February 2024, the 'Last Calibrated Date' will show the date of when you recently updated the app.
State 3 - Updated & Not Calibrated ⚠️
This means the firmware has been successfully updated to 5.12, but you haven't calibrated your sensor just yet. Please follow the guidelines above on how to do so.
State 4 - Not Updated & Not Calibrated
This means you need to first update your sensor to the latest firmware and then calibrate your sensor. Please follow the guidelines above on how to do so.
