What is the review screen?
For velocity-based training exercises, the review screen separates the coach's target from the athlete's performance trend.
This allows the screen to answer two questions independently:
Did I achieve the session objective set by my coach?
How am I trending compared to my usual performance?
If a velocity target has been prescribed, that target becomes the primary source of feedback. Alongside this, Output continues to track longitudinal performance through baseline and Load-Velocity Profile feedback, helping athletes understand both session execution and longer-term progress.
When a velocity target is set
If your coach has assigned a velocity target, a pre-defined zone, a custom min/max range, or a drop-off percentage, that target is the primary piece of feedback on your screen.
Zone targets (pre-defined or custom range)
The screen shows how many of your reps landed in the target zone.
You will see one of four outcomes:
On target
80% or more of your reps were in the zone. Well done.
Below zone
The majority of your reps fell below the target range. This usually means the load was too heavy or you fatigued sooner than expected.
Above zone
The majority of your reps exceeded the target range. This typically means the load was too light for the intended stimulus.
Inconsistent
Your reps were split above and below zone. This can indicate high rep-to-rep variability.
Drop-off targets
The screen shows which rep triggered the drop-off and by how much.
You will see one of two outcomes:
On target
You stayed within the drop-off threshold.
Drop-off exceeded
You went past the threshold, with the rep number and actual drop-off percentage shown.
When no velocity target is set
If no target has been prescribed, your Load-Velocity Profile (LVP) becomes the primary feedback signal. You will instantly get feedback on how you are trending.
Note: Your LVP needs to be built before this feedback appears. If you are new to Output or haven't performed enough sessions for an LVP to be generated, complete a Load Velocity Profile.
The baseline widget
Below the target or LVP feedback, you will see a baseline widget. The baseline widget provides a separate layer of feedback from the coach's target. While the target helps determine whether the session objective was achieved, the baseline widget helps athletes understand how their current performance compares to their typical performance over time.
This shows:
Your usual velocity at the weight you just lifted.
Whether your performance is trending up or down over time.
Select the widget to open your full baseline screen, where you can explore your longitudinal velocity history for that exercise.
Baseline requirements by processor type
Not all exercise types build baselines in the same way. The table below shows the requirements for each supported processor type, including:
Baseline Window – the period over which previous results are considered when calculating a baseline.
Minimum Distinct Days Required – the minimum number of separate testing days needed before a personal baseline can be generated.
Additional Metrics Calculated – any extra metrics that are included alongside the exercise's default metric when building the baseline.

Note: Each exercise has a default metric (defined in its metrics configuration). Any additional metrics listed above are also included when calculating the athlete's personal baseline.
