Key Equipment
Output Sports Sensor
Output Sports Body Strap (red tag)
Output Sports Sensor Pocket
Smartphone or Tablet with Output Sports Capture App installed
Setup
1. Pair the Sensor
Open the Output Sports Capture app on your smartphone or tablet.
Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the sensor to your app via Bluetooth.
2. Position the Sensor
Place the sensor in the sensor pocket and attach it to the wrist using the red wrist strap (see image below).
3. Select the VBT Test Mode (Optional)
In the Output Sports Capture app, select the “Slams, Swings & Throws” category from the exercise menu.
Select the preferred Medicine Ball exercise e.g. "Med Ball Downward Slam".
Select parameters for the test (e.g., weight, number of reps).
Choose to calculate by "Peak" for this ballistic movement.
Enable the "Velocity Targets" feature, and select from the predefined Velocity Targets provided or create your own "Custom target" to help guide your performance throughout the test.
4. Configure Additional Features
Enable or disable the 'countdown timer' found in the bottom right corner of the screen. This feature provides the athlete with a preparation time of 5, 10, or 15 seconds, allowing them to adequately prepare and get into position before starting the test.
Activate or deactivate the 'video recording feature' found in the bottom right corner of the screen. This functionality enables both the coach and athlete to review the exercise performance, ensuring that proper form and technique are maintained throughout the squat.
Instructions
Press the start button to begin the test.
Begin with the first throw by using proper technique for the selected throw style (e.g., chest pass or overhead throw).
Throw the ball explosively, focusing on generating maximal force and speed.
Review the Data
After completing the test, review key metrics in the Output Sports Capture app such as:
Peak Acceleration (G): The highest rate at which an object speeds up during a movement. Measuring peak acceleration helps identify the athlete’s ability to produce rapid bursts of force.
Peak Power (W): The highest rate of work performed during a movement. Peak power is a key indicator of an athlete’s explosive capability, critical for short bursts of maximal effort.
For a more in-depth analysis and to compare your results with previous sessions, you can access the data in the HUB.
