Charting in Output Sports allows coaches to visualise athlete performance data over time. There are several chart types available, each designed to help analyse different aspects of performance, from individual rep comparisons to long-term trends. This article explains the different chart types and how to use them.

Athlete Charts

To access athlete charts:

  1. Navigate to Athlete Hub

  2. Select the athlete

  3. Choose the chart type you want to view

Athlete charts provide quick insights into an individual athlete’s training performance.

Longitudinal Chart

The Longitudinal Chart allows coaches to monitor an athlete’s performance over time for a selected exercise and metric.

This chart is useful for identifying:

  • Long-term performance trends

  • Adaptations to training

  • Changes in strength, power, or velocity across sessions

Note: Each data point represents the best metric value recorded for that exercise on a given day, depending on the selected aggregation settings.

List of Measurements

The List of Measurements view displays a chronological list of all recorded sessions for the selected exercise. This view allows coaches to quickly review session-level performance data, including:

  • Date and time of the session

  • Key performance metrics (e.g., mean power, velocity, force)

  • Number of repetitions completed

  • Weight used during the set

Each entry represents a recorded set or session, making it easy to track training history and identify when specific performances occurred.

Expanding a Measurement

Clicking the dropdown arrow on a session will expand the measurement to reveal more detailed information, including:

  • Full summary metrics for the set

  • Rep-by-rep performance data

  • Additional performance metrics such as power, force, impulse, and displacement

This detailed view allows coaches to analyse both overall set performance and individual repetition metrics.

Set Comparison Chart

The Set Comparison Chart allows you to visualise performance rep-by-rep within a set.

This chart is useful for identifying:

  • Fatigue across a set

  • Rep consistency

  • Changes in velocity, power, or other metrics within a set

It displays each repetition individually so coaches can quickly analyse performance trends within a single exercise set.

Profiling Chart (Load–Velocity Profiling)

The Profiling Chart is used to create a Load-Velocity Profile (LVP) for an athlete.

Load-Velocity Profiling helps coaches monitor and profile an athlete’s:

  • Strength

  • Power

  • Velocity capabilities

It can also be used to estimate an athlete’s 1RM.

How to create a Profiling Chart

  1. Go to Athlete Hub

  2. Select the athlete

  3. Select Profiling Chart

  4. Choose the exercise

  5. Select the metric

  6. Select the sets you want included in the profile

Note:
The Profiling Chart automatically uses the best rep from each selected set.

Profiling Chart Comparisons

The Profiling Comparison feature allows coaches to compare load-velocity profiles across different time periods.

This is useful for monitoring:

  • Training adaptations

  • Strength improvements

  • Seasonal performance changes

Examples of comparisons include:

  • Start vs end of a training block

  • Pre-season vs mid-season

  • Previous season vs current season

These comparisons help coaches understand how athletes respond to training interventions and adjust programming accordingly.

1RM Chart

The 1RM Chart displays historical 1RM values recorded for an athlete.

This chart helps coaches:

  • Track strength development over time

  • Identify long-term performance trends

  • Monitor progression across training cycles

Only entered 1RM values will appear on this chart.

Advanced Charting

The Charting section provides more flexible data visualisation beyond the standard Athlete Charts. This tool is particularly useful for analysing long-term trends and relationships between exercises.

Features

With Advanced Charting you can:

  • Plot up to four exercises for a single athlete on the same graph

  • Customise date ranges

  • Adjust data aggregation

  • Use advanced display settings

  • Download charts as images

  • Export raw data as .CSV

  • View charts in full-screen mode for presentations or deeper analysis

This feature is ideal for coaches who want to perform more detailed performance analysis across training periods.

Viewing Charts in the Capture App

Charting insights can also be viewed in the Capture App through the exercise History tab, allowing coaches and athletes to review performances quickly during or after training sessions.

Note: The Capture App Chart displays the best metric value from the set.
